Huge News! DreamWorks is Taking Us to ‘Forgotten Island’ with an All-Star Pinoy Cast

Grab your dried mangoes and turn up the volume, because we have some major news that’s giving us all the feels!

DreamWorks Animation, the geniuses behind Puss in Boots and Kung Fu Panda, just announced a brand-new original movie called Forgotten Island. But here’s the best part: it’s basically a massive celebration of Filipino talent and culture, and the cast list is absolutely stacked.

The Leading Ladies: H.E.R. and Liza Soberano

Leading the film are two of our absolute Pinay faves. We have the Oscar and GRAMMY-winning queen H.E.R. making her big animation debut. You already know her voice is pure magic, so we can only imagine how much soul she’s going to bring to her character.

Joining her is the gorgeous Liza Soberano. After killing it in Lisa Frankenstein, Liza is continuing her Hollywood takeover. Seeing these two Filipina powerhouses side-by-side as the leads of a major global film is the representation we’ve been waiting for.

The Support Cast of Icons

The Pinoy Pride doesn't stop with the leads. The legendary Lea Salonga is officially back in the animation world! Whether she’s singing or voice acting, Lea is royalty, and we are so ready to hear her iconic voice on the big screen again.

We also have the hilarious and charming Manny Jacinto (fresh from the success of Freakier Friday and Star Wars), the incredible Dolly de Leon (Triangle of Sadness), and comedian Jo Koy.

Why This is Such a Big Deal?

This isn't just another cartoon. Forgotten Island is iconic because it’s a massive platform to showcase our colorful Filipino culture to the entire world. For a long time, we’ve seen bits and pieces of our culture in movies, but a full-on DreamWorks production centered on our heritage? That’s huge! We’re talking about potentially seeing our myths, our beautiful islands, and that famous Pinoy heart shown to millions of people globally.

It’s a win for every Filipino kid who wants to see characters that look like them, and for every Global Filipina who is proud of where she comes from.

Forgotten Island is scheduled to be released in theaters on September 25, 2026.
